BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – A female suicide bomber detonated her explosive belt on Monday afternoon after coming across a number of police officers in central Tunis.
In addition, the preliminary reports stated, the explosion that hit the central Habib Bourguiba avenue, was a result of a suicide-bombing attack. The police have cordoned off the site of the incident.
The Daily media noted that the blast occurred close to a police van and not far from a hotel, at around 1.50 p.m. local time.
According to the Tunisian Ministry of Interior, a “terrorist explosion” wounded at least nine people this afternoon, including eight police officers in the capital city of Tunis.
No further details have been released at this time.
