BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force has launched a new series of airstrikes over the western countryside of the Idlib Governorate, today, hitting several jihadist targets near the Turkish border.
Led by their Sukhoi jets, the Russian Air Force targeted Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions in western Idlib, including several sites in and around the town of Bsheiriyeh.
According to a military source in the Latakia Governorate, the Russian Air Force carried out these airstrikes in response to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s attempted bombing of the Hmeimim Airbase.
The Russian military was able to foil the jihadist attack on the Hmeimim Airbase, destroying the militant drones that were attempting to bomb the installation.
Over the last 48 hours, the jihadist rebels have attempted to bomb the Hmeimim Airbase on two separate occasions; however, all of the attacks were repelled by the Russian military.
