BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:37 A.M.) – According to Al-Masdar News sources, the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces Division is not to be involved in any operation against ISIS in southern Damascus despite earlier plans for such an undertaking.

Instead the elite formation is to be deployed to the northern countryside of Homs province where it will lead other Syrian Army units against rebel forces operating in the Rastan area.

The decision to not attack Islamic State forces in southern Damascus comes after 4th Mechanized Division and Syrian Republican Guard formations finally managed to shatter the terrorist group’s lines in the area during the last day.

As a shock unit, the Tiger Forces Division specializes in breakthrough operations. In northern Homs it will lead other Syrian Army formations, namely 11th Armored Division, in the fight against local rebel groups by being the first to penetrate enemy defenses.
