BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:17 P.M.) – The Syrian Army and allied Palestinian forces have isolated Islamic State militants in the southern Damascus district of Al-Qadam into multiple small pockets.
Specifically, the dislocation and shattering of the terrorist group’s frontline in Al-Qadam has taken place in the neighborhoods of Al-Madaniyah and Al-Assali at the northern end of the district.
The fact that government troops – backed by armor, artillery and airstrikes – have managed to achieve such feat may indicate that Islamic State defenses, at least in Al-Qadam, are finally collapsing.
Ironically, it was once ISIS that isolated government troops and pro-government Palestinian fighters in Al-Qadam into small pockets when it blitzed the district during a local offensive last month (March).
