The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by the Syrian Marines, National Defense Forces (NDF), and Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – have regained the initiative in northeastern Latakia after coming under a vicious attack from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies yesterday.
Following the capture of the Zuwayqat Mountains and Point 1112, the Syrian Armed Forces began to target the strategic heights of points 1154 and 1125 near the strategic town of Kabani.
The assault on points 1154 and 1125 was coupled with a strong push by the Syrian Armed Forces to enter the important town of Kabani, which is located directly west of the Idlib Governorate and only 3 km west of the integral village of Al-Sirmaniyah in the jisr Al-Shughour District.
If Kabani is captured by the Syrian Armed Forces, they will be able to make their first major push towards the Jihadist stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour.
Jisr Al-Shughour was captured by Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) last May when they launched a large-scale offensive to expel the Syrian government forces from the Idlib Governorate.
