BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launches a counter-offensive this morning to recover the sites they lost to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) this week.
However, despite the intensity of the attack, the jihadist rebels were unable to recover any territory and were later forced to retreat back towards Tal Sakher in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army laid an ambush against the attacking jihadists, killing more than 15 of their fighters in the process.
The source added that many of the jihadists that launched the counter-attack were foreign combatants that are part of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s special forces.
Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham has championed the cause to retake the areas previously lost by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and their allies; however, they have failed to recover anything thus far.
