BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 A.M.) – A high ranking jihadist commander was recently assassinated in the northwestern region of Syria after a rival group opened fire on a checkpoint.
According to opposition activists via social media, the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham field commander Adel Abu Ibrahim was assassinated by a group of fighters from the jihadist group Tanzim Hurras Al-Deen on Saturday.
The opposition activists claimed that Abu Ibrahim was killed when the Tanzim Hurras Al-Deen fighters opened fire on Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s Tal Hadiya checkpoint in southern Aleppo.
Recently, the two jihadist groups have traded hostilities in northwestern Syria, prompting many residents of Idlib and Aleppo to fear a new war breaking out.
