BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:10 P.M.) – An infamous terrorist was handed over to Egypt by the Benghazi-based Libyan National Army (LNA) on Wednesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense announced.
The wanted terrorist, Hisham El-Ashmawi, was filmed by Egyptian TV landing in Cairo on Wednesday after he was transferred by the Libyan National Army.
El-Ashmawi was captured by the Libyan National Army in the former Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) stronghold of Derna.
Egypt and the commander of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, maintain close diplomatic and military ties. Haftar has received a considerable amount of support from Egypt over the years, including close military support.
