Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned Washington of “catastrophes” it might face if the US goes further than labelling Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terror organisation, speaking at a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.
He also assumed that such US move coincided with the elections to the Israeli Knesset in order to support a “specific person” in these elections.
“You bring a bunch of occupiers and oppressors to the land that belongs to Palestine and you want to hold an election? And you like the specific person among candidates of the election? So because of this, you say that Golan belongs to Israel and you call IRGC terrorist,” stressed Rouhani.
“If they go forward and it becomes more than just a slogan, they themselves know what catastrophes they will be faced with. And I do not think, no matter how amateurish, that they want [to take] any other action,” added the Iranian leader.
