BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) carried out another ambush in the Palmyra countryside this week, killing a number of soldiers in the process.
According to a field report from Palmyra, the Islamic State ambushed a Syrian Army vehicle as it was traveling south of the ancient city.
The report said the Islamic State ambush resulted in the death of at least three soldiers, including one officer.
The Islamic State has recently stepped up their attacks against the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in eastern Syria, killing more than 100 soldiers in the month of May alone.
In response to these ISIS attacks, the Syrian Arab Army has beefed up the number of military personnel around Palmyra; however, this has done little to deter the terrorist strikes.
