BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are currently involved in a fierce battle for the Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) last Euphrates enclave.

Backed by heavy artillery and airstrikes from their Coalition partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces have intensified their assault against the remaining Islamic State fighters near the town of Baghouz.

However, despite the increased pressure on the Islamic State fighters in the eastern Euphrates, the Syrian Democratic Forces have been unable to make any significant progress as of yet.

With an estimated 1,000 Islamic State fighters still inside this Euphrates enclave, it is highly unlikely that they are going to yield any ground without inflicting as much damage on the attacking Syrian Democratic Forces.

Also slowing down the SDF’s progress is the estimated 5,000 people that are believed to be still inside the Islamic State’s small Euphrates pocket.

The Syrian Democratic Forces are attempting to capture the Islamic State’s Euphrates enclave while avoiding civilian casualties.

Despite repeated calls by the Syrian Democratic Forces to allow the civilians to seek safety away from the battlefield, the Islamic State has mostly ignored their pleas and rejected all offers to surrender.

almost 10k people left the rubble and the rabble. Those that renained choose their own fate. at some point the game ends. The danger remains in the tunnels. All openings should be flooded by tear gas grenades or bulldozered over with a clear killing field for SDF. This will cost many of the civilians their lives. I have little sympathy for IS wives, but feel for the children, slaves and prisoners. Therecwill be no others.

Using tear gas for warfare is banned by the Hague Convention (but not for the Police), as any kind of chemical weapons…

The efficient way against tunnels is huge thermobarics like MOAB, FOAB, Daisy-Cutter, even the 2000 lbs BLU-109 as others may be too huge and costly, moreover Daisy-Cutter stockpile is exhausted.

A 100kg thermobarics already does 3rd degrees burns about 100m into a tunnel. A 5t to 11t+ one or 6x BLU-109 from a fighter-jet, added with the overpressure followed by vacuum, ouch…

@Karel Vd Geest, declare the area a fighting zone and give the civilians a deadline to leave After that do thermobarics and incendiaries. Then cover the place with slaked lime.

p.s. Gas can be only used in police not in military actions. All that gave their souls or bodies to IS shall be doomed – even slaves and prisoners.
They allowed themselves or their children to be flesh shields.

@Abu Sobber, why do You lament and sob that Your IS has no allies. God has decreed this fate. And He will not know You losers on the first day after…

p.s. True warriors go to Valhalla = Paradise rejoicing – so they will return for the final battle against those who fight as allies and servants of the great snake.

@Long Live Syria, no “hump the howries”.

The Arabic language was born as a written language with the Quran, and there’s growing evidence that many of the words were Syriac or Aramaic.

“The Quran says martyrs going to heaven will get ‘hur,’ and the word was taken by early commentators to mean ‘virgins,’ hence those 72 consorts. But in Aramaic, hur meant ‘white’ and was commonly used to mean ‘white grapes’,” Luxenberg and other Quran scholars say.

p.s. @Abu Sobber, The grapes were the symbol of wisdom – see old liturgical pictures and gowns. The IS martyrs will have to understand that.

@Abu Sobber, why do You lament and sob. IS tried God by attacking His stronger forces. Now His forces strike back. Nothing is more pathetic than Your complaints about the lack of modern equipment. IS started this war and also committed fitna – knowing the odds.
