BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:30 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels launched a new offensive in the northern countryside of Latakia on Friday, as their forces targeted several areas controlled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
Led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, the jihadist rebels kicked off their offensive in the Jabal Al-Akrad region by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at Tal Ballout and its surroundings.
The jihadist rebels would manage to score a quick advance at these sites, as their forces were able to capture Tal Ballout and its corresponding hilltops after a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army.
This jihadist offensive is still ongoing at this time, despite the presence of Russian and Syrian aircraft over the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.
Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and their allies launched this offensive in northern Latakia after successfully repelling several attacks by the Syrian Arab Army at the key town of Kabani.
These Syrian Army attacks on Kabani have become more prevalent over the last few days, as the military’s high command wants to seize this area before the end of the year.
