Leader of the Amal Movement, Nabih Berri, attending a meeting 'Ayn Tineh

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – Lebanese Minister of Parliament Abdul-Rahim Murad stated on Wednesday that he met with the Speaker of the House Nabih Berri at the latter’s residence in the ‘Ayn Al-Tineh District of Beirut.

Berri, who has been a staunch ally of Syria for decades, told the Lebanese lawmaker that  the “Economic Summit should not be held in the absence of Syria.”

The veteran Speaker of the House has called on the Arab League states to lift the suspension on Syria’s membership, joining several politicians from f the March 8th political bloc in this call.

Berri has been the long-time leader of the political powerhouse, Harakat Amal, and one of the key figures in Lebanese politics.
