BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a big advance in northwestern Hama, yesterday, resulting in the capture of a key area at the southwestern slope of the Zawiya Mountain.
Led by their Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army was able to break through the jihadist lines at the northern axis of Al-Hamra, paving the way for their entry into the Huwayz area.
Following their entry into the Huwayz area, the Syrian Arab Army quickly swept through the militant defenses and imposed full control over three of the towns that were under the control of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Free Syrian Army.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army was able to establish a presence at the southwestern slope of the Zawiya Mountain.
According to a military source in Hama city, the militants suffered dozens of casualties during the Syrian Army’s advance; this included a number of commanders from the FSA and their allied militias.
The Syrian Army also suffered nearly 20 casualties during the attack, including a few officers that were near the front-lines.
