BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 A.M.) – The Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh Al-Izza faction has issued a call for the general mobilization of rebel forces in northwestern Syria after suffering heavy losses as a result of the recent Russian airstrikes.
According to a Syrian military source in the Hama Governorate, Jaysh Al-Izza reportedly suffered a large number of casualties in the last week after Russian jets struck their positions along the Hama-Idlib axis.
The general mobilization of rebel forces in northwestern Syria is greatly needed for Jaysh Al-Izza as they are limited in the number of fighters they have available at their front-lines with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
Much like the pro-government forces in towns like Mhardeh and Suqaylabiyeh, the majority of the fighters in Jaysh Al-Izza are locals from Kafr Zita, Al-Latamnah, and other villages and towns in the Hama and Idlib governorates.
However, Jaysh Al-Izza may be out of luck, as many of the rebel fighters in northwestern Syria are currently deployed near the front-lines with the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Jaysh Al-Izza will likely have to settle for aid from jihadist groups like Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, who are already in control of most of the Idlib Governorate.
