BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:20 P.M.) – The Saudi Coalition announced on Wednesday morning that their forces began an imperative offensive inside the Dhale province.
The Saudi Coalition, led by the pro-government Yemeni troops, are attempting to retake the territory they lost at the hands of the Houthi forces earlier this month.
Among the areas captured by the Houthi forces was the provincial capital, Qa’tbah, which was previously contested for several weeks.
In addition to Qa’tbah, the Houthi forces seized over 15 towns during the offensive; this forced the pro-government troops to withdraw further east in order to regroup.
The Saudi Coalition forces need to retake their lost ground in Dhale because the province itself is located just north of the government’s temporary capital, Aden, which is situated along the Red Sea.
