BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:10 P.M.) – The recent Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements that arrived in the Palmyra countryside have proven important as they managed to foil a new Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) ambush near the ancient city.
According to a field report from Palmyra, the Islamic State attempted to ambush a Syrian Arab Army convoy east of the ancient city on Thursday morning. However, the Syrian Army scouts spotted the terrorists before they could carry out the ambush.
The Syrian Arab Army managed to kill several of the Islamic State attackers before the terrorists retreated to an unknown location in the Badiya Al-Sham region of eastern Homs.
Recently, the Islamic State has carried out several ambushes in the Palmyra countryside, with many of these attacks resulting in the death of many Syrian Arab Army soldiers.
