BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:10 P.M.) – The recent Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements that arrived in the Palmyra countryside have proven important as they managed to foil a new Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) ambush near the ancient city.

According to a field report from Palmyra, the Islamic State attempted to ambush a Syrian Arab Army convoy east of the ancient city on Thursday morning. However, the Syrian Army scouts spotted the terrorists before they could carry out the ambush.

The Syrian Arab Army managed to kill several of the Islamic State attackers before the terrorists retreated to an unknown location in the Badiya Al-Sham region of eastern Homs.

Recently, the Islamic State has carried out several ambushes in the Palmyra countryside,  with many of these attacks resulting in the death of many Syrian Arab Army soldiers.

“the terrorists retreated to an unknown location in the Badiya Al-Sham region of eastern Homs.”

Why not chase them down with an attack helicopter or watch them from a high flying plane to see where their hideout is?

Choppers have very limited flight time and flies slowly. Such attacks are very sneaky, these are hit’n’run. I wouldn’t even not be surprised would these creeps know when satellites are over them… Moreover, it’s not impossible them receiving satellite intelligence from the Chinese : I see no other possibilities : they always know where to attack, how to avoid patrols, and it was the same in Iraq, this definitively disqualify the Yanks, which, together with the coalition and the Kurds, actually killed more ISIS Roaches than SAA+Russia any way. Now, for the high flying plane, well, the problem is loitering… Read more »

“And without the Ba’ath party, Assad can’t govern Syria… He’s not in the same posture of power where e.g. Saddam or Gaddafi were”

As usual you continue to spread lies about the Syrian war in general, this video for example is gun proof evidence of Israel supporting ISIS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr47mKJeuaU

Furthermore, just because Assad and the Syrian government are far from perfect doesn’t mean we should change their government by force in any way whatsoever which is what it sounds like you’re hinting at here in which case, you are wrong.
