BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:20 P.M.) – The Syrian military will retake every inch of Syria, including all territories controlled by anti-government forces, Minister of Defense General Ali Ayoub said in a press conference this afternoon.

Speaking alongside his Iranian counterpart, the Syrian Minister of Defense said that armed forces of Syria and Iran are in agreement about the future of the country and the need to defeat terrorism.

Furthermore, General Ayoub confirmed that the Syrian military will indeed make a push to retake the entire Idlib Governorate and all areas under the control of the U.S. Coalition.

General Ayoub said the Syrian military will use all of its power and tools to force the U.S. Coalition to fully withdraw from the Al-Tanf Zone near Iraqi border.

In regards to the Iraqi border, General Ayoub said that the crossing between the two countries will be opened within the next few days as the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) has been nearly defeated.

The Syrian Minister of Defense’s comments come just a day after the Iranian Army’s Chief of Staff Ali Bagheri and the IRGC’s Quds Force commander Major General Qassem Soleimani arrived in Damascus for a surprise visit.

As shown in this article, Benjamin Netanyahu has recently made it very clear that it is also Israel’s goal to further cement its ownership claims on the Golan Heights:

Israel cares very little about the impact on the non-Israelis living on “their land”.

@Nicole Temple, are You sure that the article “Syrian military will retake every inch of Syria, including Idlib and Tanf: MoD” is about the Golan?

As to the Golan. The situation has been made clear in UNSC res. 242…

The area is Syrian since the conquest of territory is no longer permissible.

BTW. However, IMHO the special situation in the Golan requires a formal peace treaty and handfast guarantees that the important strategic location will not be used against Israel in future wars.

I do not think Syria will be able to do that since Russia do not want at all to upset Turkey and its terrorists. So, Syria will have to get the idea that it has now only 45% of its original land and live with that. I do not see how can Syria will get back its whole land (including the Goland Heights).

This has been carefully worded to not mention North East Syria. As the bridge over the Euphrates has been restored and reopened by SDF, they will now work on integrating the region economically, militarily and better transitroutes will facilitate this. From the new capital of Ain Issa, we will see rapid development the next two years, if a war can be prevented.

, Ali Ayoub plans only fighting terrorists that fight Syria. Hezbollah and IRGC did not attack Syria. So why attack them?

@joris, I agree that Hezbollah’s engagement has facilitated the defense of Syria. But I do not think that the “Friends of Syria’s” mercenaries would have been able to take Damascus.

I predicted the final victory of the SAA on Yahoo.de way back when the Jihadi offensive had just taken great parts of Damascus. The SAA simply has and had the social composition and military background of an army that does not capitulate or break easily. You must bleed such armies white to win. And Syria had Russia that could not afford to have a Jidadi state near the backdoor.

And joris, Daeshbags-Sux is no friend to the White Helmets. He is merely highly inimical to Hezbollah and IRGC.
